Merve delivered a standout session that was both deeply thoughtful and highly practical. She is excellent at connecting strategic leadership concepts with the real, day-to-day challenges people face inside a complex organization like Google. The room was fully engaged throughout — people were reflecting, questioning, and leaving with concrete actions they could immediately apply. Merve’s presence is calm, sharp, and credible, and her experience as a former corporate leader herself clearly shows in how well she understands our context.

FAQ's
What is LEGO® Serious Play® used for in business?
LEGO® Serious Play® (LSP) is used in business to facilitate strategic thinking, team alignment, culture work, innovation, and complex problem-solving. Organizations use it to build shared understanding around vision and values, surface hidden assumptions in strategy sessions, strengthen trust within leadership teams, and navigate change or organizational transitions. It is also used for new manager onboarding, leadership offsites, merger and acquisition integration, and DEI conversations. The methodology is particularly effective in situations where traditional meetings, slide decks, or verbal discussion fail to generate genuine engagement or honest dialogue — because building with your hands activates a different kind of thinking.
Is LEGO® Serious Play® just team building?
No — LEGO® Serious Play® is a serious business methodology, not a team building activity. While it does strengthen relationships and psychological safety within teams, its applications go much deeper: strategic planning, scenario testing, leadership development, organizational design, and culture transformation. The "play" in the name refers to the process, not the purpose. Companies including Google, NASA, and Microsoft have used LEGO® Serious Play® to tackle complex strategic challenges. That said, if team cohesion and trust are your goals, LEGO® Serious Play® delivers those outcomes too — just with far more substance and lasting impact than a typical team building event.
How long does a LEGO® Serious Play® workshop run?
LEGO® Serious Play® workshops typically run between half a day (3–4 hours) and two full days, depending on the complexity of the challenge and the depth of outcomes required. A half-day session works well for focused team alignment, values work, or introducing the LEGO® Serious Play® methodology to a group for the first time. A full day allows for deeper exploration — strategy sessions, scenario planning, or significant team dynamics work. Multi-day engagements are designed for leadership teams working through large-scale strategic challenges or organizational transformation. Every LEGO® Serious Play® workshop at Leadrise is custom-designed around your specific goals and time available.
How many people can participate in a LEGO® Serious Play® session?
LEGO® Serious Play® works best with groups of 6 to 24 participants. This range ensures that every voice is heard, the facilitator can manage the room effectively, and the group is large enough for rich discussion without losing individual contribution. Smaller groups of 4 to 6 can work well for senior leadership team sessions where depth is the priority. Larger groups of up to 50 are possible with an experienced facilitation team, typically by running parallel table groups with a shared debrief. The LEGO® Serious Play® methodology is specifically designed to ensure 100% participation regardless of group size — nobody sits quietly in the back.
Do participants need any LEGO® experience?
No LEGO® experience is needed — and in fact, prior LEGO® experience is largely irrelevant. LEGO® Serious Play® is not about building impressive structures or demonstrating skill with bricks. Participants build simple metaphorical models to represent their ideas, not architectural masterpieces. The bricks are a thinking tool, not an art medium. Most participants arrive skeptical and leave surprised — the LEGO® Serious Play® process works precisely because it bypasses the self-consciousness people bring to verbal discussion. The only thing participants need to bring is a willingness to engage. The facilitator handles everything else.
What is LEGO Serious Play and how is it used in leadership?
LEGO Serious Play (LSP) is a facilitated workshop methodology that uses LEGO bricks as a thinking tool to help teams explore strategy, build shared understanding, and solve complex challenges. Participants build three-dimensional models representing their ideas, then share and discuss them — a process that surfaces insights that traditional meetings and presentations rarely reach. In leadership contexts, LSP is used for team alignment, strategy sessions, culture work, new manager onboarding, and leadership offsites. It ensures 100% participation, creates psychological safety, and produces outcomes that stick. Leadrise is a certified LEGO Serious Play facilitation practice.
Are LEGO® Serious Play® workshops delivered in-person or online?
LEGO® Serious Play® workshops are available both in-person and online. In-person sessions are the most common format — participants work with physical LEGO® bricks at the same table, which creates a shared, tactile experience that is hard to replicate digitally. That said, LEGO® Serious Play® has been successfully adapted for virtual delivery using platforms like Zoom, with participants working from their own LEGO® kits sent in advance. Both formats produce meaningful outcomes. The right choice depends on your team's location, size, and goals. Leadrise delivers LEGO® Serious Play® workshops in-person across Ireland, Europe, and the US, and virtually with teams anywhere in the world. Book a free discovery call to discuss what format works best for your team.
How much does a LEGO® Serious Play® workshop cost?
LEGO® Serious Play® workshop pricing varies depending on the format, duration, group size, location, and level of custom design required. A half-day workshop for a small leadership team is priced differently from a multi-day strategic offsite for a large organization. In-person sessions also factor in travel and LEGO® materials, while virtual sessions include kit logistics. At Leadrise, every LEGO® Serious Play® engagement is scoped individually — we do not offer off-the-shelf pricing because off-the-shelf workshops are not what we deliver. The best starting point is a free 15-minute discovery call, where we can understand your goals, team size, and timeline and give you a clear and transparent proposal.
